Size proofs
The artwork is drawn once, as a <symbol>, and reused with
<use> at every size. Nothing is redrawn or simplified, so if the small
versions still read, the geometry is doing the work.
Construction notes
- 35 shapes plus one title text: 4 sky bands, 1 sun, 4 beam wedges, 4 stars, 2 sea bands, 3 glints, 2 rock masses, 1 tower, 2 tower bands, 2 windows, 1 door, 1 gallery, 1 lit pane of glass, 2 mullions, 1 roof, 1 finial, 1 glow, 1 pair of birds, 1 frame.
- 14 flat colours, no gradients: the sky is a four-step ramp from indigo to rose; one amber is reused for the sun, the glints and the light itself.
- Each beam is two flat wedges: a wide faint halo and a narrow pale core, both apexed at the lantern. The halo is cut 5° above and 16° below the horizontal, the core 2.5° and 9.5°. The same flat fills read differently over each sky band.
- The format is 3 : 4 (900 × 1200). The sun rests tangent to the horizon line; the cliff steps down to the water in two ledges; the tower tapers 150 to 92 over 420 units and both red bands follow the taper exactly.
- No JavaScript anywhere on the page. It works with scripts disabled; the only
moving parts are hover and focus transitions, switched off under
prefers-reduced-motion.
