git history, navigated

Walk your history.

Lattice is a quiet command line for moving through git history. Step through commits, follow the work, and read the past without noise.

zsh ยท lattice
$ lattice log --oneline --graph

* 8f3a2c1 HEAD -> main Add retry backoff to client
* e5d2f9 Fix pagination edge case
* c3b1a8 Initial commit

the mechanism

Move through history with two keys.

Lattice keeps a position in your repository's past. Arrow keys move through it. No flags, no arguments, no friction.

Use the arrow keys, or select a commit.

HEAD -> main

the vocabulary

Three moves. Nothing else.

Jump, read, inspect. That is the whole surface.

lattice jump

Jump

Resolve a hash, a branch, or a message fragment to the exact commit you mean, then move there without the noise of a checkout.

lattice log

Read

Print the graph with minimal decoration and deterministic output. No pager games, no noise.

lattice show

Inspect

Show the full context of a commit, diff and metadata, when you land on it.

install

Install in one line.

$ brew install lattice

Requires macOS or Linux. Available for Apple Silicon and x86_64.
