Lattice

Navigate the git history graph with intent. Lattice maps commits as a structured lattice, letting you traverse connections and find the paths that matter.

Design

Graph as Lattice

Commits are organized in a 3D lattice structure, enabling efficient spatial traversal of history without getting lost in branches.

lattice explore --depth 5
lattice branch compare main feature/auth
lattice path origin 1a2b3c

Intent-Based Navigation

Search and filter by commit message, file, or author patterns. Find what you need, not just what exists.

lattice find --author alice --since "2024-01"
lattice search "refactor user model"

Visual Output

Render histories as tree or lattice diagrams, optimized for terminal rendering with minimal noise.

lattice graph --output ascii
lattice visualize .git --format svg

Low Overcommitment

Lightweight and fast. No background processes, no state to sync. Just CLI with reliable output.

which lattice
/usr/local/bin/lattice

Installation

From source

Clone the repository and build with your preferred Rust toolchain.

gh clone earendil/lattice.git

Or install via cargo

Get the latest release from crates.io.

cargo install lattice

Compared to Alternatives

git log

Linear history, no branching insight.

git log --oneline

gitk

GUI tool, heavy, outdated rendering.

gitk

gh

Web-focused, limited history navigation.

gh pr checkout 123

What Engineers Say

"Lattice finally lets me see the shape of a project's evolution. No more getting lost in merge commits."
— Maya K., Staff Engineer at Nextra
"The lattice structure makes it trivial to trace how a bug propagated through releases. It's the git tool that thinks like code."
— David R., Engineering Manager
